Alto Palato Wine School

Penne Restaurant & Wine Bar announces Alto Palato Wine School, a monthly wine class included wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. It begins on Thursday, October 1st and will run once a month, until May 2010 (exclude December and January). Hosted by Marco Avigo, one of Philadelphia’s only Italian Master Sommeliers, each class will highlight a different aspect of the wine making process.
In this series Marco will explore wine from the vine to the dinner table while discussing also Italy’s culture, history, traditions, and of course, food. Information on topics such as the different grapes and regions of Italy and around the World, what and how to buy wine, and how to harmonize wine with food will transform members into expert wine connoisseurs. There will be three wines for tasting in each class, with complimentary Hors d’oeuvres. Each participant will receive customized text, forms to help to evaluate the wine and tasting sheets.
Classes begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately 90 min. The cost is $35 per person.
Class has to be booked and paid one week prior the event. Purchase a six-class card and receive a 10% discount whenever you dine at Penne.
Penne Restaurant & Wine Bar is neatly situated at the Inn at Penn, 3611 Walnut Street, Philadelphia. Reservations are limited and must be made at least one week in advance.
