Penne Wins "Dish of the Year" at Philly Cooks! 2006

Penne Restaurant & Wine Bar can now add "Best Overall Dish" to their list of awards for their fine Italian cuisine. On Wednesday, January 18th at the sixth annual Philly Cooks! event in Philadelphia, Penne took home the top award for Dish of the Year and received the grand cash prize of $2,500.

The winning dish was a Pan Roasted Pork Tenderloin Agrodolce with Sauteed Brussel Sprouts and Pancetta served with Chestnut and Ossobuco Agnolotti over seared Foie Gras in a Chestnut Mascarpone Sauce.

This incredible culinary event, quickly becoming a Philadelphia tradition, is hosted by Philadelphia magazine and invites local chefs to prepare signature dishes which are presented to a panel of celebrity judges to compete for this top honor.

When reached for comment, executive chef Roberta Adamo was thrilled to share her thoughts on Penne's win. "The Chefs at Penne are honored to be a part of Philadelphia's most talented culinarians. Our dish was a collaboration of myself, our Chef de Cuisine, Eileen Watkin, and Chef Ed Vadden our General Manager. Pork and Chestnut are some of the foods of Tuscany, a region I recently had the pleasure to visit. Our intent was to balance the flavor and the texture of the dish to allow each ingredient to come through and stand on its own merit. If you love the food it will always love you back.
